Thanks for contacting me. Your information is helpful, thank you! I have the same census listing from 1880 that shows a Mary Kielhorn living with Wm. and Minnie (nee Hintze) Wernse. It said “cousin” but I assumed it was a relation on the Wernse side. Now, from what you tell me, Mary is most probably Minnie’s first cousin, her father’s sister’s daughter. The Sophia listed is Minnie’s mother. Are you researching Wernse or Kielhorn? I still have nothing on Minnie’s family, other than her mother’s name. Perhaps your added info will add some clues.
