Samples: Pigs Of Summer

I forgot to post this illustration project that I did a-way back in the late winter for the June 2011 issue of Highlight’s High Five magazine. “Pigs Of Summer” was the title of a spread for an “action rhyme”. As always, it’s a pleasure (and blast!) to work with the art directors at Highlights, drawing all kinds of fun and interesting stuff to encourage kids to learn and grow.

Below: The rough sketches.

    Hi Paula
What a great piggy spread. And it is inspiring to see the process the way you have laid it down on the blog. Your little characters are wild and wonderful as always. I am a sort of piggy person myself. I am glad to know another person who enjoys drawing pigs. I don’t feel quite so crazy knowing there are other kindred spirits who spend time drawing and dreaming up stuff for kids living in a serious world that needs piggies at times. And you are making a living at it. This is wonderful! Hey! Happy Halloween! And also, please don’t ever stop creating those characters.
