Illustration Friday: “Old-Fashioned”

I got tired of poor Clumsy staring at the leaves changing in the previous post. I’m sure you did too, so here’s a Clumsy the Bunny cartoon as a solution to this week’s Illustration Friday prompt, “Old-Fashioned” (as if you didn’t know that by now!).

Anybody ever had an Old-Fashioned, by the way? Back in my discotheque-going days (yes, I’m that old), I did Whiskey Sours pretty much, so I don’t have any idea how this drink tastes. I’m guessing it’s sweet, though. Do you have a favorite mixed drink? I’m not sure I should be asking all this on a blog that’s geared towards kid’s illustration primarily, though that’s not all I do. Of course, don’t try this at home, kids. Bar hopping with a rabbit (Ooh! A pun!) can maybe mess you up…And make you kinda weird.

can’t really comment here since the only mixed drink I’ve had is a root beer float! : )

I heart you, Clumsy. I’ve had a similar incident where I ordered a “Tom Collins” and the bartender said to me, “Isn’t that an old lady drink?”

I’m very much a margarita girl myself.

As for an Old Fashioned, yeah, it must be sweet, not sure I’d much like it, it contains bourbon, Angostura bitters, water (!!), sugar, a maraschino cherry and an orange wedge…

Doug: The rootbeer float: best Bible-Belt mixed drink I know! Yum!

Jannie: Ha! Clumsy’s in good company. : )

Jazz: The idea of “bitters” doesn’t do it for me, so I won’t be having one anytime soon. The orange and cherry though, are a draw!

A margarita! Yes, reminds me that I DO like a pina colada, though I have mostly had them virgins. They are popular that way at ice cream/snack shops like that.

mixed drinks! I’ll take a ‘watery’ beer over a mixed drink any day! well, not really ANY day but maybe on a saturday… oh, and a good root beer float is just the perfect bevvie in ANY category! (AND it really is “old-fashioned”!)

I love Clumsy! He is So funny and cute and sassy! …Oh that poor little squirrel.

I have never had an “old-fashioned,” but this prompt is making me want to try one… and while I’m there I should also try a “tom collins” and a “harvey wallbanger” -they’re all, in the words of Jannie’s bartender, “old lady drinks” that I’ve been curious about but never had the guts to order.

By the way, I love the little footnote about drawing cars! Very funny!!

Ha ha! This made me laugh (I love the little “I don’t draw cars” sign on the side of the car! I think it looks great!…I don’t do cars, either.) Like this a lot…he’s one smart-alecky rabbit…LOVE it!

Love it! (I’m not old-fashioned, just wholesome.)

Hey! I downloaded the trial of Corel Painter just now. Looking forward to seeing that I wasted my money on adobe illustrator CS5.

So nice meeting you and Susan!

Julie: Ha ha! “wholesome”. Got it!

So great to meet you too! Great that you downloaded the trial version (I didn’t think to suggest that). Let me know what you think of it. And, again, feel free to ask me for any help if you need it (and if I CAN help!). Now, now…Let’s not go so far as to say CS5 is a waste. Hee!
