Sketches: Sunset #8
Monday’s sunset. Same place. Used a soft charcoal pencil for a rapid, rough sketch. You can see the line art for this sketch here, along with a brief discussion of how I utilize my sketchbooks.

I really like seeing the original pencil sketch, it’s wonderful to see the “gesture of your hand” in those beautiful grey shadings and marks.
and to see “the workings of your mind” in your illustration notes are great fun too! I’d be glad to see more before they’re tossed, it’d solve your paper pile-up problem, make a nice archive for you and be a treat for us

Nicely done foreground work! The simplicity in the detailing of rock formation, both surface texturizing and shading, serve to capture the ‘moment in time’ for the mineral masses displayed. One can sense the evening’s coolness settling in, the effect it plays on your chosen subjects. Wonderfully depicted!!

Paula,
My attempt at a ‘2 in a row’ comment-comeback has failed, as I have once again disappeared!? I am beginning to believe that I am/it is simply not meant to be…and my script was of very short length this time!
I will continue to ‘view’ and enjoy…with an occassional ‘comment at my own risk’ sent in your direction.
Really favour “Sketches: Sunset #8″
Take care,
dla
Debbie, your comments keep ending up in the spam bucket. I check it once a day or so so if and when you do leave something (and it doesn’t appear) I’ll find in a day or so. : ) Couldn’t tell you why this is happening, but so it goes! Thanks so much for coming back and out of lurking mode! –Paula

Paula,
Once was lost (well actually, several times!)…but now I’m found! Thanks for locating and saving me from ‘the bucket’. Cannot figure why I continue to find myself there(?), but so it goes, and goes and goes…
It is MY pleasure to have returned, as your site gives me great pleasure! Many thanks to you for continuing to share with us!
Write you soon.
