IF: Peace

I haven’t missed an IF for a long while and I almost forgot about it, what with the upheavel of a holiday schedule.  With little time, the first thing that came to mind was the peace mobile that I had when I was 12 and 13 years old.  It was the late 60′s and I had my bedroom decorated in my favorite colors–turquoise and lavender.  Believe it or not, the shag carpet I chose is STILL on the floor in my folks’ house.  For years I begged them to pull it up and let the hardwood floors breath, but, no, it still remains.  And it looks as awful now as it did then.  Of course, I was looking at it through the eyes of a tween…with Osmond Brothers posters on my wall (I know; no taste).  My sense of decor (and music) has improved much since then.

Oh this is so good, I love the Peace mobile and all the detail in in glorious violet, turquoise and shag. .

Great piece of work and all kinds of fun to look at!

Cool! How’d you rate the purple and turquoise shag? It was shag for me as well, but I was not so lucky as to have a ‘personal’ colour selection varying from that which flowed throughout the entire house. (Once gold, then changed to avacado green!!) Lucite peace signs from area ‘head’ shops, black lights…and the posters that magically revelled in their glow, drapings of love beads, tie-dye applications, so much…too much?! Osmonds on my walls?…never. (And Paula, I promise not to tell anyone about this one!)
Sounds/looks like a wonderfully personalized room! Very cheerful! Thanks for the memory.

    the OSMOND BROTHERS? LOL

In 69, I was really into the stones and the doors…though I did have some lingering love for Mickey Dolenz…

Oh yeah! It looks familiar! Of course, it’s all back now…go into a tennager’s room and it will be like “deja vu all over again.” Have a Happy New Year, and Peace, Man!

Thanks everyone! I love all your comments. Yes, well, my musical taste left a lot to be desired, I know. I will say that my first albums were Yes’ “Close To The Edge” and Chicago’s first Chicago Transit Authority. At least I was moving in the right direction!

DAlty: Sounds like we all had shag rugs in our homes! “Avocado green” for a rug??? Oh my! The folks had/have the gold shag but thankfully never ‘advanced’ to the avocado color! Ick! Thank YOU, too, for the memory!

    Peace!

“Ick” it certainly was! Avocado green…and not only in my room but throughout the entire house!! And I remember well the woman who sold my mom on the colour selection! She may very well be the reason behind my decision to go into the Interior Design field…so as to allow less of this type of home fashion faux paux!? The dreaded shag of the ‘puke’ resemblance was very short lived in our home, thank goodness!

I have blocked out my teenage room. Had it totally erased from my memory by a top secret government program. Yup. Gone.
