Pulling something from “the vault” ONCE again… Ah! This fits perfectly with Illustration Friday’s “Lost” theme this week! See, there are peanuts that are “lost” throughout this scene. Well, okay, if you want to get technical, they’re really “hidden”, but let’s just say they’re “lost” so we can get on with finding them, eh?
Click here for an enlargement so you can find all the ‘lost’ peanuts (in the shell, of course). I found 19…You?

So, yes, I’ve been on a little break from the blog for a few days. Maybe a tad of burnout, but mostly it being a holiday weekend up here in Canada. Thanksgiving in early October still takes some getting used to. I’m always asked by Canadian friends if it’s true that American Thankgiving is bigger than Christmas. Not really, I say, but the holiday has become about food and sports. I know in my extended family when we’d observe Thanksgiving, we’d eat–and eat and eat–and then the rest of the day was spent gathered around the TV watching the T-A&M/UT football game (unless you were fortunate enough to have scored tickets to be there yourself). It also kicks off the countdown to Christmas, I’d say. And, of course, the day AFTER Thanksgiving is the equivalent to Boxing Day, both now mega shopping days. So there ya go.
Paula,
This illustration is so great, I love the way you illustrate these detailed collage of children. I think the other you illustrated was of children swimming? So fun and so many things to catch the eye it keeps one looking for more!
This is quite fun. And yes Thanksgiving is about eating-alot which we did this weekend. Still recovering.
I love these kind of “find it” pictures. Such fun! I LOVE the expressions of your characters and the rich detail – some new treasure everywhere I look! Nicely done Paula!
Ok – I’m officially cross-eyed now & I’m still 4 peanuts short of a bag! Had fun though!
I feel like Wally and can’t find myself! Truely lost in your amazing image
This looks great. You’ve done a great job with all those characters. Impressive.
I found 18! And from a fellow Montrealer, I just love your blog…
woooowwwwww it’s great i love it ¡¡¡¡
Lovely, busy illustration. You’re nuts.
Thanks, everybody! Gosh, I keep finding peanuts that I didn’t see before, but it still adds up to 19. I think there’re more, but I don’t have a tear sheet of the printed piece easily at hand so I don’t know what number was given for kids to look for. Oh, and these are the most time-consuming illustrations!
ooh! i found 20! does mr. peanut count? this was so much fun. great illustration!
um…make that 21
Estelle: Very good! I finally had to go and circle the peanuts so as not to loose count. I found 21, too. Perhaps I’ll post the illustration showing where the peanuts are hidden/lost.
I LOVE IT, I got lost looking for them
