Thank You, Mr. Steele

Looking in some old boxes while purging stuff, I found this.  Circa 1968.  I’m guessing I was in 3rd or 4th grade.  This is one of my earliest illustration and cartooning projects, a booklet entitled, “Holidays of the Year–1968-2000″  In 3rd grade, I had created a cartoon strip called “Waterworks”, with the main characters being water drops.  And, yes, Mr. Steele, I STILL need to work on my writing. : )

    What a treasure!!
I’d love to have some of my school work from days past. Unfortunately, all that was saved were the old booklet style report cards!…reporting that all was well, except that I NEVER spoke…refused to even read aloud!! Some things never change!?

It’s plain to see that even back in the 3rd/4th grade you’d already discovered the reflective/shadowing powers! Nicely done, Paula!
If you uncovered more of these adorable works of art(?), please share!? Mr. Steele won’t mind, I’m sure.

Wow, shadowing in 4th grade, your job was preordained.

So those are water drops? I thought at first they were drunk leprechauns.

Debbie: Oh! You were such a shy-un! I had students like you. And yeah, I really got into that shadow, huh! Well, I have 11 other months I could post. Maybe I’ll post January and February and possibly the rest as the year progresses. Thanks for commenting, Debbie!

Jessie: Merci, Jessie! Most kids art is free and unfettered from self-criticism. I sure miss that. And I always wanted to be an artist. It just seemed right. Not sure my adult self agrees with the much, though. ‘nother story…

Jazz: (I’m chuckling!) I love that you thought those were “drunk leprechauns”! Too funny!
